2026 OISE Graduate Student Research Conference: Call for Organizing Committee Volunteers!
If you’re looking for an enriching academic experience and an opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise, consider joining us as part of 2026 OISE GSRC Organizing Committee. You’ll be working alongside a dynamic team of peers and colleagues. The OISE GSRC typically takes place in the Winter term and provides a special opportunity to OISE students to present their research in a supportive and collegial setting. The GSRC is organized by the OISE Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) with the support of the Dean’s Office.
Current Positions:
Grants, Sponsorship and Funding (1-2 positions)
Identity suitable funding opportunities to support the conference. Work closely with the VP Academic and conference co-chair/s to prepare grant proposals, fundraising, and sponsorships, and liaise with OISE stakeholders and third parties.
Anticipated time commitment: Between 5-7 hours a week from October 2025 to January 2026.
Health and Wellness (1-2 positions)
Focus on accessibility, accommodations and other matters that relate to the safety and comfort of conference participants and attendees, including but not limited to giving suggestions for childcare options, and coordinating food and beverage logistics. Attendance throughout the conference is expected.
Anticipated pre-conference time commitment: Between 5-7 hours a week from November 2025 to conference date.
Research (3-5 positions)
Identify and facilitate opportunities for research collaboration among departments and programs (including interdisciplinary collaboration), as well as work closely with conference co-chairs to develop conference themes and schedules. Role involves liaising with OISE stakeholders and third parties.
Anticipated time commitment: Between 5-7 hours a week from October 2025 to January 2026.
Peer Reviewers (5 positions)
Review and evaluate proposal submissions for inclusion to conference program. Ideally, peer reviewers would also be able to provide feedback.
Anticipated time commitment: About 5 hours a week from October 2025 to January 2026.
Social Media Coordinators (2 positions)
Working closely with the VP Academic and VP Internal & Communications, develop a comprehensive social media campaign and create and post content to support pre-conference, conference and post-conference information sharing across the GSA’s social media platforms. Attendance at the conference is expected.
Anticipated pre-conference time commitment: About 5 hours a week from December 2025 to conference date.

PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Given the nature of organizing and running a conference, we can only give an estimate of the time commitment involved. It is likely that more hours will be needed to ensure that the conference runs smoothly.
- Another call for volunteers will be made some time in November/December 2025 for other positions such as:
- Moderators/ Time-keepers/Facilitators
- Registration support
- General volunteers
- Interviews will be conducted by end-September 2025. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The decision of the Executive Committee will be considered final.
