Professor Creso Sá re-appointed Distinguished Professor in Science Policy, Higher Education, and Innovation

OISE is delighted to announce that Professor Creso Sá of the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education has been re-appointed Distinguished Professor in Science Policy, Higher Education, and Innovation for another five-year term from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2030. 

The University of Toronto offers the Distinguished Professor Award to a select number of faculty with highly distinguished accomplishments, who maintain an extraordinary level of activity in their research and scholarly work, and who have achieved pre-eminence in their field. 

Professor Creso Sá is an internationally recognized scholar whose work explores the connections between science policy, higher education, and innovation. He is the co-author of Tapping the Riches of Science: Universities and the Promise of Economic Growth (Harvard University Press, 2009) and The Entrepreneurship Movement and the University (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015). In 2015, he received the Research and Scholarship Award from the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education in recognition of his distinguished contributions to research. Professor Sá’s work has been profiled and cited in a wide range of publications, including Nature, The Scientist, Times Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, The Hill Times, the Postmedia Network, and The Globe and Mail. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Studies in Higher Education, a leading international journal in the field. He also has an extensive record of graduate supervision and mentorship. He has supervised 17 PhD graduates, served as a committee member for 21 others, and is currently supervising 18 PhD students. 

Professor Sá served as Chair of the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education from July 2022 to December 2023, and has held the role of Vice-Dean, Academic Operations at OISE since January 2024.
